We welcome two new names on Beef records. First one hails from Russia – Harry Light, who already released couple of vinyls and was featured on several compilations on labels such as ProTez and Killax. On 74th Beef release he delivers fine, deep but in the same time raw and driving rollers to heat up the floor. On the remix duties we have our favorite Freerange protege Bas Amro.
The other EP is by very exciting newcommer Erik Ellmann. His music is deep, twisted but with bags of energy at the same time. Well, you gotta taste it yourself! Features Mobile Soul System on the remix duties.
Big with Anton Kubikov (SCSI-9), Shur-i-kan, Dj T, Miguel Migs, Djuma Soundsystem…

ANA.LOCK at the Cross Club & Interview with SLG

On Saturday 17th January we are taking over the spectacular Cross Club in Prague. We have Kuba Sojka and SLG headlining the main floor with their eclectic live shows. It’s definitely worth mentioning that Cross Club has one of the best soundsystems in Prague and it was recently included in top 25 best clubs around the world by The Guardian. To get you pumped up we bring you an interview with Lukasz Seliga aka SLG.
Hi Lukasz, how are you? For the beginning lets start with the birth of SLG. Can you introduce yourself and the project in a few words and how it all began?
Thanks, I’m doing good! My name is Łukasz Seliga, currently i live in Warsaw, but I’m from Łódź, Poland and I’m already making music for many years. I started out with playing guitar, but then I got more interested in electronic music (but I still play bass guitar in one of the tracks on my forthcoming record). SLG project started out already around 2003-2004, and I released my first record in 2005, so already 10 years ago.
What does SLG actually stand for?
Unfortunately this mysterious shortcut is pretty simple – It’s just my last name without vowels.

Interview with Ripperton aka Headless Ghost

As we are warming up for the next Komiks warehouse party with Ripperton and Maxxisoundsystem we bring you an interview with one of the headliners. Ripperton is one of the key figures on the electronic scene and he truly influenced many of us in such different ways. It’s a pleasure to have him answer a few questions for us.
When did you first get acquainted with electronic music? Do you remember the first record you bought?
I think I bought my first acid house k7! in the commercial center near my house in the late 80’s and I listened to a house music radio show on the national radio “couleur 3″ by Djaimin and Mandrax.
I know that you have been djing since the early90s, but you didnt release any of your own tracks until 2006. Was it because you waitied so long for the right inspiration before creating something of your own?
That’s not correct. My first release was in 1999 as Soul Merge on Chic Records and was called “Can be love”. After I founded the band ‘Reasons’ with my friends, and released on my first label Lovearth Records. Back then it was really hard to make records: renting studio, using musicians, finding nice distributors, etc..

JTRP – You & Me EP with Glenn Astro remix (+ interview)

JTRP photo
German based duo JTRP is back on Beef with a great raw 3 track EP ‘You & Me‘.  These boys have started their career with 2 bass heavy releases on T. William’s ‘Deep Teknologi’ imprint, followed by several side kicks in Belgium, UK and finally on Beef records. On the remix duties we got Glenn Astro – heavyweight jock and producer from K7!, Tartelet records and Kolour LTD. To coinside with the release we bring you a short interview with these young producers and djs.
Please tell us how did you guys meet. Are you long time friends?
We know each other for 6 years now. We met at a local barbershop through a friend. Soon we started jamming together and one thing led to another… now were like brothers. That’s it.
What is the main idea behind ‘You And Me’ EP that just came out on Beef. Was it just random jamming or is there more of a story behind these tracks?
We had a production break for about an year, then Dmitry from Neo Violence asked us to contribute to the NVxBEEF compilation that came out earlier this year. The track got quite some attention (T. Williams played it on BBC Radio 1) and so it seemed logical to continue working on the same approach with the label (beef). These tracks tell the consequent story that we both share together from very different point of views on electronic music. We contributed what we really like.
